Jeru Lopez

Senior Occupational Therapist

Since graduating a Bachelor of Science Occupational Therapy from Edith Cowan University in 2016, Jeru has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience across both the private and public health sectors, with a keen interest in working with young people with mental health challenges and neurodiversity. Most recently, Jeru worked with the children, adolescents and their families at Perth Children's Hospital's Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit where he supported them to identify and overcome barriers to engaging in the tasks and occupations that create meaning in their lives. To do this, Jeru provided age-appropriate assessments, short term therapy and avenues to learn and hone skills in practical ways.

Jeru understands the importance of participating in meaningful, everyday activities and strives towards enabling others to find enrichment in them. He gets that mental health struggles can be lonely sometimes and values a 'team around the person' approach. This means he aims to include his clients' friends, families and key people in partnership where practicable and appropriate.

Outside of his practice, Jeru finds meaning in working with his hands on his cars, cooking and creating timber based furniture. He is an outdoor type person, and enjoys playing volleyball and going for a skate. He is also an avid Avatar Studios fan and has watched and rewatched the series many times over. These hobbies help Jeru to maintain a balanced perspective on health and wellbeing.
