Consultations and Telehealth

At Voix, we prefer face-to-face contact - at least the first appointment should be face-to-face (there are some exceptions). We believe it is essential to build rapport and have more personal clinical experience before deciding on the format of our subsequent meetings.

At Voix, we can use various online platforms for ongoing contact, but sensitive clinical information is stored only on our secure electronic medical records server (according to the relevant Australian privacy regulations)

Payment of all appointment fees is required before any prescriptions, referrals, or reports are released.

The fees may sometime vary depending on the circumstances and specific clinical requirements.

Medicare safety net

The Medicare safety net allows patients to receive a higher rebate once they meet the safety net threshold. More information can be found on the Medicare website:

Script fees

You may need to request scripts between appointments. You will be advised of the prescription request process after your first meeting. Payment of the script fee is required before scripts are completed.

Scripts for ADHD Medication and co-prescribing

Please note that there is a specific process relating to psychostimulants - ADHD medication - which Voix has to follow:

  • We must maintain consistent, six-monthly contact and comply with the regulatory requirements for your ADHD medication (psychostimulants) and ensure ongoing optimisation and monitoring of your treatment.Your regular feedback and my understanding of your evolving personal and social circumstances will allow us to reflect regularly on your specific clinical needs and supports (if required).
  • The WA Health Department oversees ADHD treatment with Dexamfetamine and Ritalin-based drugs, which must be conducted according to the ADHD treatment guidelines.
  • All the scripts for stimulants will be provided only during the consultations.
  • For security reasons, the scripts will be provided either electronically (e-scripts) or in a printed form directly to you.
  • We are not in a position to email these scripts to the pharmacy due to safety concerns.
  • In some cases of patients living in remote and rural areas, the local General Practitioner could offer a six-monthly follow-up ("co-prescribing"). As a prescribing psychiatrist, I must see the patient annually to ensure consistent treatment.

In addition to the outpatient clinical services, you may like to check further information about Private Health Insurance relating to mental health. It is a complicated and, at times, confusing subject. Our College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP - Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists) issues a separate policy statement.
