Ellen Kang

Mental Health Occupational Therapist

Ellen is a mental health occupational therapist who is passionate about supporting young people who feel like they don’t “fit in” to have a space to be authentically themselves. As someone who loves learning and travel, she has been fortunate to experience working in mental health in northern Queensland, Melbourne and London, as well as in her hometown of Perth.

Ellen has extensive experience working with anxiety, low mood, social and emotional difficulties, burnout, Autism, ADHD, early psychosis, and other experiences and identities divergent from the so-called norm that can impact greatly on a person’s sense of self.

Ellen has a warm, reflective style and works with each person in a tailored way, taking their sensory preferences and other needs, for example novelty, creativity and autonomy, into account.

Ellen’s therapeutic approach draws from compassion-focused, trauma-informed and systems-based therapies and is Level 1-trained in Internal Family Systems. As an OT she also strongly believes in the value of meaningful activity, interests and being connected to community and culture on one’s well-being.

Ellen is a cat person (whilst appreciating all animals!) and enjoys spending time walking in nature, singing in a choir and crafting.
